I need 3 people for something new
I’m going to try something different.
For the past few months, I’ve been talking about tech careers, layoffs, navigating the chaos of this industry: on YouTube, on this newsletter, in DMs with people who reach out.
What I’ve realized is that the most useful conversations aren’t the broadcasts. They’re the 1:1s. The “here’s your specific situation, here’s what I’d actually do” conversations.
So I’m making that official.
I’m launching a coaching program for tech professionals. And I need 3 people to go through the full program with me, at no cost, in exchange for honest feedback and a testimonial if it’s genuinely helpful.
What you’d get:
4 sessions over 6 weeks (one 90-min kickoff, three 60-min follow-ups, sessions begin week of 1/18/26)
Direct access to me between sessions for questions
A structured approach to whatever career challenge you’re navigating—whether that’s preparing for a promotion conversation, figuring out your next move, surviving a PIP, transitioning to management, or getting unstuck
Who this is for:
You’re a software engineer, engineering manager, or tech professional with 3+ years of experience
You have a specific goal or challenge (not “I just feel lost” need something concrete to work toward)
You can commit to 4 sessions over the next 6 weeks
You’re willing to give honest feedback and a short testimonial if the program helps
Who this is NOT for:
If you’re in active crisis (just laid off last week, major life emergency). I want to help, but this program works best when you have some stability to work from
If you’re looking for someone to just tell you what to do. Coaching is collaborative, not prescriptive
The catch:
This is free because I’m building something new and I need real feedback to make it good. In exchange, I’m asking for:
Your commitment to actually show up for all 4 sessions
A video testimonial (60 seconds) if the program genuinely helps you
Permission to share your results (anonymized if you prefer)
If that trade feels fair to you, I’d love to work together.
Applications close 1/12/26. I’ll review everyone and reach out within a few days to schedule.
If this isn’t for you but you know someone who’d benefit, feel free to forward this.
Talk soon,
DrJ
P.S. If you’re curious but not sure if your situation qualifies, just apply. The form takes 3 minutes, and I’d rather you throw your hat in than wonder!
